Purchased for Tonight:
One frilly pink blouse/skirt combo from Goodwill
Some Spanx, a white cami with a built-in push-up bra, and a white lacy half-slip
Whether or not I strip from item #1 to item #2 at tonight’s annual showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at our local theatre remains to be seen…
And Finally...
In desperation for technological entertainment, my 6 year-old has unearthed the V-Tech spelling toy and is practicing her spelling words since she just CAN’T bring herself to pick up the living room and restore her Wii privilages. At least she will ace the next spelling test, right?
Speaking of Popularity
My son is finally getting invited to birthday parties. This morning I let him leave with a carload of excited kids for an all-day celebration at a science museum…without me or my husband. My son does not always play well with others, but the school-teacher mom who is chaperoning insisted she could handle things and my son begged us not to come this time. He is having a good year at school...
How to Be Really Unpopular At My House
My 6 year-old: Mom? Can I play Wii?
Me: As soon as the living room is picked up.
My 6 year-old: WHAT??!! (Stomps out of my bedroom)
Let the record state that I did NOT say “no”.
When the one you love breaks your heart by leaving...

Truth.
If I teach my daughters NOTHING else, I hope I teach them this. :)
Well THAT Was Embarrassing
Many lifetimes ago, I was a cute little college girl who had a rather boisterous circle of friends. Most of us had belonged to various Masonic Youth Groups while growing up (this is Oklahoma, it’s all we had) and had known each other casually for years. We really bonded as young adults and spent most of our weekends/free time together doing all the things that the youth orders had been...
In Case I Lose My Job, Here's My Side of It
I work as the Education Director at a historic house museum site. I got a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies following my Internship there in 2007 and I am thrilled to work there full time now. I know a lot about the museum not only because I am employed there, but because I had to write a lot of thoroughly researched papers about the place as a college student.
When they were developing it...
Earlier today I ran into my OBGYN at WalMart while I was buying pads for my oldest daughter who he delivered almost 13 years ago. There’s a great ‘circle of life’ joke to be made in there somewhere, but all I could think was “I really hate it when I see him outside the office.” There are 100,000 plus people in this town and I am guaranteed at least one awkward run-in...
So…my sister who has often mocked me for being “over-protective and over-involved” when it comes to my children has just called me and posted to Facebook that my 14 year-old niece is missing. Part of me is really upset, most of me thinks she is hiding out at the home of one of her many horrible friends and is just fine (and it bothers me a little that I’m not freaking out...
Sometimes
I sit in front of this screen and envision a post that everybody “likes” and reblogs thereby inspiring new followers in big numbers. Then I look at the clock and say to myself “If you hurry, you could be ASLEEP before 10.” And it wins every time. G’night all!
Earthquake rating upgraded to magnitude 5.1 |... →
I was sitting at my desk this morning and I definitely felt it, though there was no damage to the office or, more importantly, the seven historic buildings that dot the 10 acre landscape of the pioneer history museum where I work. What makes me sad is that my mind immediately jumped to “Oh God! There’s been another bombing” before I took a few deep breaths and remembered all the...
I’m awake, I’m showered, and I’m dressed. What more do you want from me busy Saturday?! (Wait! Don’t answer that.)
5 for 5?
So, let’s see if I can keep my perfect record of inadvertantly offending museum patrons at least once each day for the fifth straight day. On Monday, a teacher yelled at me for only scheduling their field trip for two hours when she “always books the three hour program!” (Though I had her reservation sheet with the “two hour” box checked sitting right in front of me....
To Whom it May Concern:
I’m sorry that your favorite staff person no longer works here. Chances are good that I used to work with them and that I really miss them too. However, I was not here at the time they were let go, nor did I have anything to do with that decision. Those calls are made by the Executive Board who supposedly funds and sponsors us. Feel free to take it up with them. Unfortunately, calling me in...
Perfect Night
Did you ever have one of those moments in your life where you thought “If this were a movie, they could roll the credits right now.”? I had several hours of those moments tonight. Amen.

A Typical Saturday Morning
My husband is on the phone with my Gran planning the afternoon’s cookout menu. One kid is on the stairs throwing a fit because the Wii has been turned off until they pick up the living room. Two other kids are cleaning up the living room because they want to play Wii. One is sharing small bites of her breakfast doughnut with the baby who is excitedly shrieking “MY BITE! MY BITE!”...
Friday Night in the Big Town?
How sad is it that it’s 8 p.m. on a Friday and ALL I want to do is sleep?
Edited to add that I went to bed within half an hour of posting this last night. I sure know how to live it up on the weekend!
Appropriate For All of My Reblogs Today →
Posted to show that there are some Latter-Day Saint women besides me who get it. Although all 9 of you who follow me probably already knew that.

He’s a sensitive kid. Empathetic. Heart on his sleeve. Strong sense of justice. My husband and I are raising him to believe that being gay is a-ok because we believe that we’re each born the way that we’re born and using slurs to describe anyone for any…
